c3controls recently donated a range of industrial controls to the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) Mechatronics Program. The equipment was used for lab activities in WRKD 196 (Manufacturing Technology: Processes, Controls, and Quality) and there are plans to use the products in other courses in the future.
Recently in WRKD 196, students utilized the products in lab activities, learning about each product’s function, principles of operation, and application in control systems. Students also learned to interpret ladder diagrams and wire components according to the diagram’s specifications.
For example, one of the key activities involved controlling a submersible bilge control pump with power distribution panels, control panels, and level switch termination panels. These mini panels featured miniature circuit breakers, power supplies, control relays, terminal blocks, and DIN rail from c3controls.
To further support the learning experience, instructors incorporated c3controls’ educational videos to offer more insight into the functionality and operation of components and systems. The combination of hands-on practice and visual learning allowed students to take away valuable knowledge of popular manufacturing products and applications.
“The students finished the class with a really good understanding of control,” said a CCBC professor. “Each student tells us that hands-on labs are their favorite, and most beneficial.”
c3controls is proud to support the Mechatronics program and help equip students with skills to help them grow. Thank you to CCBC for the opportunity to drive future success in manufacturing and automation!
