Seeming simple, tower lights remain as a significant component of automation and machine installations, world-wide.

Tower lights have the advantage when it comes to seeing the status of a machine or process. These lights, placed on top of a machine, can be seen from across the shop floor to alert personnel of machine status or an issue. When selecting and installing tower lights, keep important factors in mind, such as: the tower light environment, component materials, installation location, and other factors.

Efficient & Reliable Monitoring For all your Signaling Needs

c3controls’ world tower lights are the only U.S. manufactured premier 50mm stack light specified, designed, manufactured and available direct to you from the manufacturer—c3controls, that utilizes internal electrical design engineering and our printed circuit board manufacturing technology.

Industrial Control Basics: Part 5 – Tower Lights

A lot of people don’t know this, but shortly after Thomas Edison perfected his light bulb he put one on top of the other, and then another one on top of the first two and invented the first stack light. He invented it so that he could see the status of his manufacturing machines from a distance. “Really?” you might say. Well, I don’t know for sure, but it could have happened that way. (And that’s what’s important.)

Push Buttons, Pilot Lights and Tower/Stack Lights have come a long way since Thomas Edison. A lot of things happened, then the first CRT-based HMI’s appeared in the 1980’s. Those gave way to flat panels and LED touch screens, advanced software for data monitoring and collection that is now on “the cloud.” Despite all of those advances, sometimes you just want to look out at your farm of machines and see all those green lights happily shining, or quickly identify that trouble maker glowing red. Yep. Sometimes you just can’t beat a tower light. BUT, there is more to the simple tower light that you might think.
