What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?

Catalyst Connection, a private not-for-profit organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which has been helping regional manufacturers grow their business for 30 years, celebrated the winners of the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Video Contest at its annual Manufacturing Reception on February 22. We are excited to announce that our group of students from the Beaver Area Middle School took home second place for Most Creative!

The contest supports Catalyst’s “Expore the New Manufacturing” program, one of many programs and efforts to build awareness with young people of the career opportunities in manufacturing.

The contest engaged middle school students with local companies to create a video about manufacturing. The videos allowed the students to share their experiences while touring a production facility and meeting with industry professionals. In all, nineteen schools created videos of twenty participating companies and students from Beaver Middle School paired up with c3controls.

This years’ reception was held at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Hundreds of students, parents, teachers, and representatives from the region’s manufacturing community were present.

Awards were handed out for Best Manufacturing Message, Most Creative, Viewer’s Choice, Best Marketing Plan, and Community Impact.

We are excited to announce that our group of students from the Beaver Area Middle School took home second place for Most Creative. Check out the Beaver Area Middle School winning video here! Their hard work and dedication to the project paid off.

According to their teacher, Justin Martincic, “the students were thrilled that something they ‘manufactured’ was worthy of that honor.’

Congratulations to Beaver Area Middle School and to all of the students who participated in this years contest. As well as a big thank you to all who helped make their goal of winning an award a reality.
